Purpose In Tagalog

In Tagalog, the word “purpose” can be translated as “layunin” or “pakay”. It refers to the reason for which something is done or the intention behind an action.

Sa Tagalog, ang salitang “purpose” ay katumbas ng “layunin” o “dahilan”. Ito ay tumutukoy sa dahilan kung bakit ginawa o ginagawa ng isang bahay o ang intensyon ng mga aksyon.

“Layunin” is used to refer to the reason for which something is done.

Examples:

  • Ang layunin ng aking proyekto ay para makatulong sa iba. (The purpose of my project is to help others.)
  • Ano ang layunin ng iyong pagpunta sa bansa? (What is the purpose of your trip to the country?)

“Pakay” is also used to refer to the reason for which something is done.

Examples:

  • Ano ang pakay mo sa pagpunta rito? (What is your purpose in coming here?)
  • Hindi ko alam ang pakay nya sa pag-iipon ng tubig. (I don’t know his purpose for storing water.)
